What to do with 300 photos the next day?

Sort them in an hour, print the essentials, and archive the rest without spending the whole summer on it.

The next day, you wake up to hundreds of photos taken by your guests. It is wonderful, and a little dizzying. Here is a simple method to get the best out of them without losing your summer.

Step 1: A first “favourites” pass (30 min)

Don’t try to look at everything in detail. Go through the album once, quickly, and only mark the photos that move you. Don’t overthink it: if you hesitate, it is a no. You should end up with 30 to 50 pictures out of 300. That is normal, and it is perfect.

Step 2: Choose 4 to 6 photos to print

From your favourites, pick a small handful of really strong images. A large print, a mini album (see making a photo book with your guests’ photos), or six cards to send to loved ones: the physical object is what really lasts. The rest lives very happily in digital form.

Step 3: Archive everything, once and for all

Download the whole album as one file and keep it in two places (your phone plus a cloud, or a hard drive). You may never look at it again, but the day you want that particular photo of your uncle on the dance floor, it will be there.

The trap to avoid

Waiting until you “have the time” to sort everything. That time never comes, and the photos get scattered across ten different messaging apps. The point of a wedding photo app like Time to Flash is precisely that everything is already in one place, ready to sort and download. One hour is enough.
