Time to Flash alongside your coverage

Your photos remain the reference. The guests’ photos capture what you can’t see: the tables, behind the scenes, the dance floor at 3 am. Here’s how to present it and set it up so the two complement each other.

01

How to present it

At the planning meeting, alongside the list of group shots. Present it as the evening’s scrapbook, not as a second set of coverage:

“I’ll take care of the coverage. For everything I won’t see, I’d suggest Time to Flash: your guests photograph the evening on their phones, and you discover their photos the next day.”

If you’re giving them your partner code, it’s one more thoughtful touch in your service.

02

Settings that keep the roles clear

A limited number of shots and the disposable camera look make the guests’ photos a spontaneous keepsake that doesn’t compete with your work. For a wedding:

Number of shots

8 to 10 per guest for a one-day wedding, 12 for a wedding over two days. Fewer shots means more carefully chosen photos.

Top-up

Switch it on (1 to 5 extra photos): it is offered automatically to any guest who has used up their shots. The constraint at the start, the excitement at the end.

Reveal

The next day around 11 am, for the “retelling last night” effect, or a week later for the postcard effect. Never during the party.

Co-hosts

The couple can add a best man, a maid of honour or someone close: they see the photos before the reveal and can quietly hide some.

A reveal the next day has another advantage: the couple already have photos to look at while you edit yours.

03

On the day

“Tonight, you’re the photographers. Scan the QR code on your table: you each have 8 photos, not one more. So make them count. We’ll discover them all together tomorrow.”

  • A quick word during the group shots or the drinks reception, when everyone is together: “Don’t forget the QR code on your tables.”
  • Let the guests cover what you can’t: the evening, the dance floor, the tables while you’re with the couple.
04

After the wedding

Review before the reveal

Between the end of the party and the reveal, the couple (and their co-hosts) are the only ones who can see the photos. They hide what might embarrass someone, not what isn’t pretty.

Download the full album

The photos stay online for six months after the reveal, then they are deleted (the couple are warned by email beforehand). Advise them to download everything on the very first day.

Get prints made

Paper prints can be ordered straight from the album. It’s often the guests’ photos that end up on the wall.

What can go wrong

A guest can’t scan the code

They scan with the phone of the person next to them, who sends them the link by message: the link works exactly like the QR code.

A QR code app on Android

Tell guests to scan with their phone’s camera, not with a QR code app: those apps open the page in a mini browser where the shutter button doesn’t respond. If it happens, a button offers to open the page in Chrome.

Weak signal in the room

Put the guest Wi-Fi password next to the QR code, or check the mobile coverage during the technical visit.
