What we learned from 120 weddings

Photos peak at 11:40 pm. And other numbers that change the way you prepare.
By watching dozens of weddings, we saw the same curves, the same peaks and the same surprises come up again and again. Here is what the numbers taught us, and how to use them for your own party.
Photos peak at 11:40 pm
It is not the “I do”, nor the dinner: it is the height of the dance floor, once the shyness has worn off. In practice: keep a “reserve” of photos for the end of the evening, and put a QR code reminder near the DJ (our tips for those photos are in getting good dance-floor photos). That is where the liveliest pictures happen.
Grandparents take part, if you remove the app
As soon as something has to be installed, participation from the over-60s collapses. Without an app, with a simple QR code that opens a web page, they play as much as everyone else. And their photos, clumsy and tender, are often the ones we prefer.
“The most beautiful photo of our wedding was taken by my 81-year-old grandfather. He had never scanned a QR code in his life.” Tom & Inès · 2026
A delayed reveal doubles the emotion
When the photos appear the next day rather than live, two things happen: guests really enjoy the party (not their screen), and discovering the album becomes a second big moment, shared once things have calmed down. It is the principle of a film being developed.
Fewer photos, more memories
Weddings where each guest had a limited number of shots produced, proportionally, many more “keeper” photos. The constraint pushes people to choose, and it is the choices that make the memories.
What this means for you
Three simple decisions come out of all this: limit the number of photos per guest, remove any app to install, and delay the reveal to the next day. That is exactly the philosophy of our wedding photo app, because these three settings alone make the difference between 300 forgotten photos and 40 memories you frame. And not only at weddings: birthdays, weekends with friends, retirement parties (see all occasions).
